Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this position is to provide the Executive Director a single point of contact for customer service response and an integrated approach to problem solving and conflict resolution. This position will provide business process review and improvements to the Department’s work management system, to include use of technology, automated work order systems, work practices and procedures. The incumbent will provide supervision and leadership to a number of independent OM & U units, specifically the OM & U/facility units that support Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA), IBBR, off site facilities, the animal care liaison and four facility manager liaisons for existing academic and research facilities and new facility construction. This position will be O&M’s direct point of contact for the Academic units, specifically the Academic Facility officers. The position will also be responsible for the management of O&M’s maintenance of the campus’ off-campus facilities, by contract or use of our in-house workforce. The incumbent will oversee and manage special studies/ efforts such as the Facilities Condition Assessment. The incumbent will develop and implement various performance metrics and track and repot data. The incumbent will respond to, and solve, customer complaints providing a coordinated response across OM & U and FM units.
This position will provide comprehensive leadership, managerial, financial and technical support to all of OM &U and be responsible for all aspects of financial transactions conducted by OM & U, including: procurement requests, invoice processing, reports, and financial closeout. Overall responsibility for O&M’s work management system: close out of work tasks, financial reconciliation, productivity measures, and metrics to measure performance. Responsible for contract financial management, to include, review of contracts, writing contracts specifications and quality control.
This position will lead the OM & U Business Administration services and ensure budgeting of the OM & U units is up to date and managed appropriately, ensure the purchasing for the various units is accomplished and oversee HR liaison functions for the OM & U units.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in business and / or operations and maintenance administration.
  • Five (5) years in a supervisory or lead capacity.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of facilities management.
  • Broad knowledge of maintenance and construction trades, including but not limited to, Electrical Systems, Piped Services, Life Safety Systems, HVAC, Building Envelope/Roofing, Painting, and structural.
  • Working knowledge of public sector accounting practices; working knowledge of personnel policies and practices. General knowledge of Facility condition assessments.
  • Knowledge of the unique needs of customers within academic, research, and residential settings.
  • Strong oral communication and human relation skills required to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with university faculty, staff, and administrators; ability to work well with a diverse client base and employee population.
  • Outstanding writing skills required as incumbent is required to prepare a wide variety of written materials, including reports, justifications for staffing, salaries, organizational changes, etc.
  • Ability to provide statistical interpretation of financial data from a variety of separate sources. Thorough proficiency in the use of office software packages (particularly word processing and spreadsheets), electronic mail, calendaring systems, and internet applications within a Windows operating environment.

  • Degree discipline in Business Management, Accounting, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Facility Management or related field preferred.
  • Experience in a facilities and higher education setting.

The hiring salary range is: $148,240 – $185,300.

Work takes place primarily in an office environment; however, incumbent may routinely visit shops and have work assignments that require on campus and off campus travel to other buildings.
