Description

The Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology is seeking to hire a Staff Research Associate II to synthesize organic intermediates and radiolabeled compounds to drive groundbreaking research. Your role will involve the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals, skillfully labeled with short-lived radionuclides through advanced radiopharmaceutical techniques. Drawing upon your expertise in organic and analytical chemistry, you will employ techniques to enhance synthesis processes. In this role, you will handle gamma ray emitting radionuclides, ensuring a safe working environment. Your proficiency in rapid chemical and physical preparative and separation procedures will be indispensable. Furthermore, your contribution extends to assisting in the development of fully automated systems for radiopharmaceutical preparations. You will also have the opportunity to prepare organic intermediates and purify them, elucidating their structure through sophisticated spectroscopic methods. In addition to these responsibilities, you will play a crucial role in the daily maintenance of the laboratory and provide valuable assistance with regulatory and technical writing. Target hourly rate: $28.04-$45.11



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Required: * Knowledge of organic/analytical chemistry and radiochemistry; * Demonstrate ability with organic synthetic laboratory procedures; * Ability to use all basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, etc; * Skill in chromatographic separations using open-column chromatography, thin-layer chromatography, high pressure liquid chromatography and gas-liquid chromatography; * Skill in safe handling of radioactive material; * Ability to follow nuclear safety rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure professional and safe working practices are followed at all times; * Understands the regulatory environment in terms of radiation safety and current good manufacturing practices; * Understands and adheres to all safety practices while performing duties to minimize any risk of injury and/or exposure to biohazardous material; * Skill to perform literature searches; Experience with regulatory and technical writing; Ability to organize raw data into a comprehensible form; * Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results; Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students; * Demonstrated computer skills including knowledge of Excel, MS Word and ability to adapt their use to the automation of radiopharmaceutical synthesis systems and data acquisition; * Ability to maintain laboratory readiness for future experiments; Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results * Knowledgeable in current GMP/GLP and regulatory requirements. Preferred: * Trained as an authorized user for radioactive materials; * Knowledgeable in current GMP/GLP and regulatory requirements; * Experience with in vivo imaging and animal rodents handling is a plus; * Experience with 68Ga, 177Lu, 99mTc, 225Ac is strongly desired. 18F experience is a plus; * Experience in radiopharmaceutical production, QC and laboratory operations; * B.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline; ability to perform radiolabeling/characterize products, * 3+ years of experience in radiopharmaceutical manufacturing or related field.
