Goshen College is accepting applications for the full-time position of Communications and Marketing Specialist (50%) and Environmental Educator (50%).

For communications, this position maintains the identity and brand of Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College through mixed media and appropriate social media platforms. The marketing and communication goals are to support the Master of Arts in Environmental Education program, the Environmental Education Outreach team, Sustainable and Environmental Education undergraduate program (SEED), land management team and the Institute for Ecological Regeneration. In addition to creating new communications material in all media that is consistent with Goshen College brand, this person refines visual media, edits documents (for publication, grant application or presentation), proofs advertisements, and projects a positive image of Merry Lea to local, regional and national communities.

For environmental education, this position delivers high-quality environmental educational experiences for the Environmental Education Outreach (EEO) team at Merry Lea. Primary audiences include PreK-12 and public participants. This person works closely with other educators (volunteers, graduate/undergraduate students and other staff), and supports program logistics (setup/cleanup, materials preparation). This person interacts directly with participants and provides excellent customer service to ensure a positive experience.

The dates for this position are to begin immediately and continue to 01/31/21 at 40 hours per week. This is a full-time position through the end of January 2021.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in environmental sciences, environmental education, biology, natural resources, education, outdoor education or related field.

  • 1-2 years' experience in teaching.

  • Experience in outreach or communication.

Preferred requirements:

  • Familiarity with Merry Lea type programming

  • Experience in communicating conservation and environmental education-based information.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  •  Driver's license

Skills Required

  •  Effective speaking and writing skills, and in public relations and customer service.

  •  Competence with computer

  •  Demonstrate an ability to support and work with graduate students.

  •  Demonstrate a commitment to working with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences

  •  Bilingual in Spanish preferred
