A postdoctoral data scientist position is available in the laboratory of Sean Li at the Cedars-Sinai Cancer and Department of Medicine and Kyoung Jae Won at the Department of Computational Biomedicine, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The Won lab develops the state-of-the-art machine-learning and image processing tools to gain deep insights into spatial biology and complex diseases including developmental biology and cancers. Won has developed streamlined computational methodologies to effectively interrogate cell-cell interaction and competition using the single cell and spatial -omics datasets.

Li directs the Bladder Cancer Gender & Sex Program (www.bcgsp.org), which represents one of the first nationwide coordinated multi-investigator efforts to advance the knowledge of “sex as a biological variable” (SABV) in cancers. We aim to identify key immunological, hormonal, chromosomal, genetic, and epigenetic pathways responsible for sex-driven biological phenotypes in bladder cancer. Successful completion of our research goals will provide the necessary biological foundation to design novel line(s) of cancer therapeutics based on a patient’s biological sex while improving efficacy of existing treatments such as immune checkpoint blockade therapy.

Together, we are inviting talented and interested candidates to join our scientific endeavor. The candidates will engage in developing computational tools for spatial transcriptomics and single cell multi-omics data integration. Backgrounds in computational biology is preferred but not required. Computer scientists or molecular biologists with strong programming skills can apply.

Requirements:

• Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization.
