Job Description

---

We are actively seeking multiple highly motivated and collaborative postdocs who possess demonstrated skills in Microbial Biochemistry, Genetics, Metabolism, Physiology, and ecology. These positions will play a crucial role in supporting our group's efforts to develop and utilize high-throughput approaches for investigating genotype-phenotype relationships in bacteria. As part of this role, you will delve into the fundamental physiology of non-model microbes, isolated from naturally weathered plastic waste or contaminated underground water (e.g., Panebacillus or Rhodanobacter ). You'll utilize CRISPR-Cas and recombineering systems to enable multiplex, targeted manipulation of the genome, while also employing high-throughput approaches/Omics to identify and ascribe phenotypes and functions to genes in these non-model bacteria. Additionally, we encourage postdocs to collaborate extensively with other laboratory members on diverse research projects centered around microbial physiology.

The postdocs will be employed in the Institute for Environmental Genomics (IEG, http://ieg.ou.edu/ .) and School of Biological Sciences at the University of Oklahoma and supervised by Jizhong Zhou and Daliang Ning. The position will be renewed annually, up to 5 years. The successful candidates will receive cross-training in professional and personal development, research collaboration, presentation and publication of results, proposal development, outreach, and mentoring. The positions include a competitive salary and health insurance. Review of applications will begin Sep 30, 2023 and will continue until the positions are filled. A near-term start date is desired.

Required documents must be emailed to: Jizhong Zhou (jzhou@ou.edu ) and Daling Ning (ningdaliang@ou.edu ).  Please attach resume, cover letter and example of work of published peer-reviewed publications.
