Lecturer in Education (Mathematics) REF041
Salary: AC3 £48,349 to £54,395 per annum
Permanent, Full-time: 35 Hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the School of Education and Social Sciences – Division of Education for an enthusiastic lecturer in Mathematics education.  

Self-motivated and able to work as part of the Initial Teacher Education team, you will teach secondary Mathematics on our PGDE (Secondary) and BSc Mathematics with Education programmes, and primary Mathematics and Numeracy on our undergraduate BA Education and PGDE (Primary) programmes. This post requires the applicant to be a registered teacher with General Teaching Council for Scotland. You will be involved in developing the curriculum within the School, coordinating modules across programmes, and supporting and assessing student teachers on school experience. This post also involves undertaking research within one of the School’s research centres.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  •   Degree and relevant postgraduate/PhD qualification or equivalent qualification 
  •  Be registered (or be eligible to register) with GTC ScotlanD
  •  Experience of learning, teaching and assessment of Mathematics in the secondary school 
  •  Experience of delivering and developing modules across the curricular area of Mathematics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and experience of hybrid delivery of learning and teaching and of use of authentic/real-world assessment approaches
  • Commitment to delivering high quality teaching and supporting an outstanding student experience. 


The post is full-time and based at the Ayr campus. You will need to travel to other campuses, and internationally, where required.
