The Department of Inflammation and Oncology Research is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to study disease mechanisms and develop preclinical biomarker and diagnostic strategies to support our innovative oncology pipelines. In this role you will work cross-functionally and interact closely with both the Discovery Research and Clinical Biomarker groups, as well as with other functions including Therapeutic Discovery, Human Genetics, Computational Biology, and Translational Medicine.
The successful candidate will independently lead and perform cutting edge research to investigate the molecular and cellular heterogeneity of human cancers with unmet medical needs. You are expected to lead the program to stratify patients based on disease driving mechanisms, develop preclinical biomarker and diagnostic strategies and generate supporting data. The successful candidate will also characterize the mechanisms of response and resistance to our therapeutic assets and inform novel research activities.
Develop deep disease area expertise for key oncology indications
Investigate disease biology and heterogeneity using human genetics, single cell transcriptomics, proteomics, cellular assays and/or preclinical animal models of human cancer
Discover and prioritize disease stratification and target engagement biomarker candidates for multiple pipeline projects
Generate and transition key pharmacodynamic and patient stratification biomarker discovery data in support of clinical biomarker assay development
Develop, implement, and execute a therapeutic biomarker discovery strategy across multiple programs
Support translational biomarker activities for therapeutic assets including investigator meetings /ad boards and investigator-sponsored studies for correlative biomarker research together with the Clinical Biomarker lead
Publish and present at national/international conferences
Doctorate degree and 2 years of scientific experience
Master's degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Bachelor's degree and 7 years of scientific experience
Ph.D or MD, with postdoctoral trainings and research experience in the field of cancer immunology, immunology, human genetics, or molecular biology
Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Multi-color flow cytometry, complex cell-based functional assays, genetic manipulation of cell lines and/or primary cells, cell signaling/biochemistry, in vivo mouse models of disease, and bioinformatics
Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication record and/or significant contributions to a therapeutic development or biomarker discovery program
Demonstrated experience in leading teams in a matrixed-environment and consistently delivering results
Experience with implementing multiple technology platforms would be a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledgeable, highly motivated, creative, and collaborative
