Reports To:
The Benefits and On-Boarding Administrator reports to the Director of Human Resources.

Job Overview:
The Benefits and On-Boarding Administrator is responsible for administration of employee benefits as well as the hiring and on-boarding process for the entire College. As needed, provides special guidance and assistance to all individuals on various employee benefit plans. Surveys industry and/or community to determine company's competitive position in employee benefits. Develops, recommends, and installs approved, new, or modified plans and employee benefit policies, and supervises administration of existing plans. Develops cost control procedures to assure maximum coverage at the least possible cost to the College and employee.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Administers employee benefits programs including Workers Comp., COBRA, Tuition Remission, Retirement, Unemployment, etc.

  • Design benefit appropriate programs such as insurance, wellness etc.

  • Coordinate leaves of absence and process claims or requests (medical operations, worker’s compensation, FMLA, Massachusetts Paid Family Medical Leave, etc.)

  • Ensure timely payment of monthly premiums

  • Manage enrollments and determine employee eligibility

  • Handle all benefit compensations and reimbursement procedures

  • Advise employees of their benefit options and facilitates benefits orientations both in a group setting and one on one

  • Collaborate and maintain professional communication with the payroll coordinator

  • Provide guidance and expertise in benefit enrollment rules and regulations, worker's compensation, and FMLA benefits

  • Installs approved new plans and changes by preparing announcement material, booklets, and other media for communicating new plans to employees

  • Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the College to effect changes in benefit programs.

  • Ensures prompt and accurate compliance with preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies

  • Maintains, in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, personnel records for employees

  • Gather job descriptions for posting on the website and various job boards

  • Meet with prospective employees to provide benefits information and run background checks as necessary.

  • Input information into the HRIS System (Paycom)

  • Ensure all appropriate on-boarding documents are signed and completed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of experience as a Benefits Administrator

  • In-depth knowledge of different benefit plans

  • Hands-on experience with HR software (HRIS)

  • Hands-on experience with data analysis

  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

  • Team player

  • Good time-management skills

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

  • BA in Business Administration, Human Resources or similar relevant field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an appropriate field; Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources Management, with at least three years' experience in benefits administration. Certified Employee Benefits (CEB) specialist designation desired. Strong persuasive and writing skills required.
