CHARACTERISTICS. DUTIES,  AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Tenure track, full time faculty position, nine-month contract. This faculty member will instruct English courses which may include, but are not limited to College Writing, Composition, and Literature. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a proactive role in academic and curricular review; designing, developing, and evaluating curriculum; participating in outcomes assessment activities at all levels; incorporating and utilizing technology in the classroom; providing academic advisement and tutoring; maintaining required office hours, building and maintaining relationships with dual credit programs; coordinating with adjunct instructors; participating on faculty and campus committees, and performing other faculty-related assignments made by the AVP, VPASA, and/or President. Faculty member may be expected to have an evening or weekend course assignment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in English, Composition and Rhetoric, Comparative Literature; or English Education from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. Some college level teaching experience required. Finalists will present a brief teaching simulation before the search committee.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of three years community college teaching experience. Experience with Blackboard and web delivery of courses. Knowledge of pedagogy and research-based practices for engaging at-risk learners.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a non-smoking environment.
