The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position, beginning Fall 2020. This position is associated with an NSF-funded project entitled “CAREER: The Science of Measurement-based Stability Assessment and Model Validation for Microgrids.” For more information, please visit https://www.union.edu/news/grants/202001/luke-dosiek-awarded-nsf-career-grant-measurement-based-stability-assessment-and. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Build and maintain an extensive library of microgrid models

  • Research system identification approaches for use in microgrids

  • Use a real-time digital simulator with hardware-in-the-loop to

    • validate system identification techniques

    • test synchronized point-on-wave hardware measurement tools

    • test inverter-based probing signal injection techniques

  • Publish findings in top journals and conferences

  • Work alongside and advise undergraduates on research tasks

  • Engage in K-12 outreach

  • Assist in the modernization of the power curriculum at Union

A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required. Candidates expecting to complete their doctoral thesis before September 2020 are also welcome to apply. Excellent candidates in areas that strongly support the above research activities will be considered.
