Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions

Are you interested in positively impacting students’ lives? We are seeking collaborative, energetic, and innovative chemical processing technology instructors who are committed to student retention and success. Instructors are responsible for establishing and promoting an effective learning environment to maximize student learning. Instructors may be assigned to teach introductory and /or general courses in traditional classroom settings and/or blended/hybrid classrooms as needed in the Business and Technology Division at Delta College.

Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions:

  • Teach lab and/or lecture portions of Chemical Processing (CPI) courses.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a manufacturing technology area and 10+ years of hands-on experience in the operation of major chemical plants.
  • OR Without a Bachelor’s degree but with 10+ years’ experience as operator with progressive responsibilities in major chemical plants.

The following is a list of desirable experience and personal traits:

1. Good communication skills
2. Passion to teach
3. Operational experience in a) distillation, b) reactors, c) pumps and valves, d) usage of process diagrams such as P&ID and PFD, e) process instrumentation and control, f) process troubleshooting, g) process lock out / tag out and operational safety issues, and h) common work processes of chemical plants involving environmental and quality issues (EH&S, SPC, six sigma, etc.)

  • A Master’s degree in a manufacturing technology area is desirable but not necessary.
