About us

Bainbridge Island Special Needs Foundation is currently looking for a Program Assistant for our daily activity program called Stephen’s House. Stephen’s House is an adult activity program which serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Kitsap County. Our program is located in downtown Winslow, on Bainbridge Island, and operates Monday-Friday.

Our mission: We are a community-based organization that provides activities to help guide individuals with intellectual disabilities (i.e. learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, etc) towards meaningful relationships within their community while building upon each individual's unique strengths.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare space for member arrival and departure
• Support adults with disabilities with a caring and compassionate approach
• Operating the van for activities and field trips
• Assist members with engaging in shared activities at Stephen’s House and in the community
• Assist members with transitions between activities and community spaces
• Assist members as needed with ordering or purchasing food
• Assist with receipts and other paperwork, as needed
• Engage in conversation with members to help facilitate activities and socialization
• Assist with maintenance of space, cleaning and trash removal, as needed
• Maintain confidentiality with personal member information
• Supporting with the monthly activity schedule
• Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• A valid driver's license and a clear driving record
• Pass a background check and have a clean criminal record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Applicants must be over the age of 18
• Experience in working as a team member

Preferred but not required experience:

• Having a college degree in Human Services or any other behavioral related field
• Previous experience with individuals with special needs

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.30 per hour
