The department of Math, Engineering, and Technology at Grayson College is seeking to fill a full-time faculty position in Mathematics. The successful candidate will instruct classes in college level and corequisite level mathematics in a variety of settings and formats, including dual credit, online, hybrid, distance learning, and occasionally weekend/evenings. They will also develop appropriate curriculum as updated by the State, and assist in the coordination of the College’s mathematics courses as assigned. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.
 

The salary for this position is based on the Grayson College 2023-2024 Faculty Salary Scale, 23-24 Faculty Salary Scale

Responsibilities:
  • 65% Teaches at least 15 SCHS of Mathematics courses per long semester; meets classes as assigned and provides assistance to students outside of class.
  • 10% Works as a team member in the Math, Engineering, and Technology Department; complies with the "faculty responsibilities" as outlined in the Faculty Handbook and the College's Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • 10% Develops and updates curriculum as updated by the State of Texas, participates in college committees and assists in registration, advisement and recruiting of students.
  • 10% Contributes to the campus assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous successful experience teaching mathematics, developmental mathematics, and/or within a corequisite model in a high school, university and/or community college.
  • Education: Master’s degree or higher in the area of mathematics from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree or higher with 18 hours of graduate courses in mathematics from an accredited college or university.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to engage students in the learning process and proven commitment to student success. Collegial attitude with college community as well as outside entities.
  • Other Skills: Cooperative attitude, excellent written and verbal communication skills and team skills, and student-centered focus. Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments. Experience tracking student learning outcomes, analyzing
    resultant data, and implementing improvement plans. Willingness to stay current in teaching methodologies and introduce pedagogical innovations as needed to effective instruction. Demonstrated dedication to the community college philosophy and ability to adapt to and enthusiastically support challenges to public higher education in the future.
  • Physical Requirements: Most of the duties of this position require extended periods of time behind a desk or in front of a classroom.
  • Work Environment: Generally an office or classroom environment.
