As the first Rutgers-Newark special program established to identify talent beyond traditional measures and then recruit, retain and graduate talented young people from the greater Newark area, AFC remains a jewel in the crown of Rutgers- Newark, serving nearly 1500 undergraduate students annually.
Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Program Coordinator II. The Program Coordinator for the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program at Rutgers University-Newark reports to the Assistant Dean for Counseling Services within the Academic Foundations Center (AFC). The position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Assisting with programming and special initiatives for the EOF Program
  • Creating and overseeing the academic (tutoring and supplemental instruction) and academic recovery components of the EOF Program
  • Tracking and reporting on EOF program data (enrollment, academic, and retention), as well as coordinating alumni engagement
  • The program coordinator will ensure programming and integrative student projects are focused on student retention, persistence, and graduation, will provide alumni relations support, and serve as the EOF liaison with the EOF state-wide alumni association
  • Assisting with the development of program assessments and evaluations, on site evaluation of services and service delivery, and program effectiveness
  • Assisting with analyzing program progress towards benchmarks, programs goals, and objectives, data management, and makes recommendations for improvement
  • The position requires a high-level of accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Following the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education/EOF regulations and assists in preparing annual reports, student and programmatic evaluations, and research projects associated with special populations
  • Following the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education/HESAA/EOF regulations for grant management
  • Work is consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the EOF program

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, capturing and analyzing data, report analysis and visual displays of data

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires at least two years relevant experience in program coordination or administrative function, excellent communication skills, computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, and high proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Must be able to interact with high-level administrators; must be self-motivated and detail-oriented and be able to interact effectively with diverse populations
  • Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and work cooperatively with others
  • Awareness of national trends and best practices related to diversity, inclusivity, undergraduate retention programs and practices, academic support services, and campus climate issues preferred
  • Experience working with EOF students, first generation student needs, and/or multicultural programs and services also preferred
