Position Summary:
The Rutgers University Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to collaborate with Prof. Kristen McQuinn and her research group on studies of near-field cosmology and the star formation and chemical evolution histories of nearby galaxies. In addition, the successful applicant will play a leading role in analyzing and interpreting UV, optical, and IR imaging of the Small and Large Magellanic Clouds from a 500 orbit, multi-cycle the Hubble Space Telescope program, Scylla. Work on independent research and the development of new projects will be encouraged.
The start date is flexible, but nominally the successful applicant would begin between March – September 2021. The appointment will be for an initial period of two years, with renewal up to four years contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding. There will be opportunities to advise undergraduate or graduate students.

Applicants must have a PhD in astronomy or a related field by the start date. Applicants with observational and/or theoretical expertise on nearby galaxies are particularly encouraged to apply, but more important is the willingness to take on new projects, develop new skills, and work independently to bring projects to fruition.
