Description
The Department of Molecular & Medical Pharmacology is seeking to hire a Staff Research Associate I (part-time 50%) who will play a pivotal role in our research endeavors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a range of molecular biology experiments, including but not limited to PCR, Southern blot, and molecular cloning. Additionally, you will be involved in conducting tissue culture using mammalian cell culture systems, encompassing tasks such as cell expansion, screening, and the meticulous freezing and thawing of cells. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in the analysis of experimental results and the maintenance of comprehensive records of all experiments. This will entail histological and molecular characterization of our research animal models, involving tissue collection, sample preparation, and data analysis. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the analysis of gene expression data obtained from RNA sequencing of tumor cells. Maintaining a clean and well-organized laboratory environment is paramount, and strict adherence to safety and procedural regulations is expected. You will also play a role in the creation and maintenance of basic stock solutions and buffers. Target hourly rate: $25.75-$30.71
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
Required: * Knowledge of basic genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles; Ability to use basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, PCR, etc. * Ability to carefully handle mice according to ARC guidelines. * Familiarity with techniques including SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, Southern, ELISA, chromatography, and binding assays. * Demonstrated ability to calculate concentrations of solutions as necessary. * Ability to organize raw data into a comprehensible form; Ability to maintain laboratory readiness for future experiments. * Ability to create and maintain records accurately. * Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results; Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students. Preferred: * BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.
