The department of Biology is a large, unified department with strong undergraduate degrees, nationally-ranked graduate programs, and world-class research spanning the breadth of biological questions and experimental systems from ecosystems to microbiology and developmental biology, from evolution to cell biology, from molecular biology to systems biology, bioinformatics, and genomics.   • Conducts genetic and biochemical studies in plants and has a position available for a work-study student to assist postdoctoral researcher, Dr. Wei Zong plant Arabidopsis thaliana seeds.
  • Grows plants, collects tissues from growing plants, harvests seeds, performs genetic crosses, performs molecular biology tests to identify plants with the desired gene combinations.
  • Helps generate new genetically engineered plant lines.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University 
  • Major in a STEM Discipline

SKILLS

Required

  • Proficient communication skills

Ability to work in a lab environment.
