Position Details


General Statement
This position is in the Department of Physics, in the College of Letters and Sciences.
Duties and Responsibilities
The postdoctoral research scholar will be responsible for data analysis related to energetic particles and solar transients, particularly their evolution in the heliosphere. This involves analysis using multi-point spacecraft data such as Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, Maven, ACE, Wind, or STEREO. Additionally, the postdoctoral research scholar will have the opportunity to be involved in the development of a new charge-state instrument under development. This will involve modeling the response of the instrument and potentially fabrication in the lab.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy.
  • Experience working with space physics ion data from one or multiple particle sources.
  • Experience with relevant programing languages such as Python, IDL, R.
  • Experience with working with instrument and/or mission teams to achieve larger science objectives.
  • Experience publishing and presenting their work.
  • Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience working within a larger team to achieve a science goal, such as an instrument or mission team.
  • Experience publishing and presenting their work.

    This position is contracted for 2 years; continual employment is contingent upon continued funding.
