Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) is a two-year community college located in downtown Los Angeles. Each semester, the college, serves more than 16,000 students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and is a designated HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution). LATTC boasts a 95-year tradition as a leader in transfer and career­ technical education, designed to prepare students for university studies and the workforce. The College's Pathways to Academic Career Transfer Success (PACTS) framework guides the College's emphasis on student access, success, and equity.

LATTC seeks a leader who is student-focused with the experience and commitment to transfer and workforce to continue our college's dedication to serving all students through innovative, inclusive, and high-touch wraparound support services. Under the direction of the President, the Vice President of Student Services (VPSS) is the Chief Student Services Officer and will provide leadership to a Student Services Division that is committed to providing deeply focused and inclusive services for a highly diverse student body (over 25,000 students annually), through an equity-minded lens. The VPSS will provide expertise and leadership in planning, organizing, and administering the student related support services of the college. The VPSS will join and fully participate as a strategic partner with a dynamic, collaborative and innovative leadership team.

The VPSS oversees all facets of Student Services, including Counseling, special and categorical programs and guides students as they navigate instructional pathways, which currently include: Advanced Transportation and Manufacturing; Applied Sciences; Construction, Maintenance and Utilities; Design and Media Arts; Health and Related Sciences; Liberal Arts and Transfer Prep; Business & Civic Engagement; Cosmetology; and Culinary Arts.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of one year of full-time formal training, internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff and students.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least three years of combined full-time experience in a leadership role, such as vice president and/or dean at a community college, preferably a multi-college district.
  • Experience facilitating and leading student-focused services and programs in a variety of modalities, including fully online.
  • An understanding of Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) and the ability to collaborate in partnership across the college and with external partners.
  • Fiscal and organizational planning, inclusive of all programs and services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in participatory governance, consensus building, and team management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership supporting the college's full commitment and implementation of Pathways to Academic, Career and Transfer Success (PACTS); plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate services that support the pathways through intentional student focused wraparound support service.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Student Services Deans and ensure appropriate standards of operation in the delivery of all student support services and programs.
  • Ensures that all Student Services Programs complete timely and accurate governmental reporting and compliance with laws and regulations within the area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development and administration of the student services budget. Direct service delivery; analyze and report on student achievement metrics, inclusive of retention, persistence, and goal attainment.
  • Manage data collection and analysis for the effective planning of student services programs; collaborate with Institutional Effectiveness and Data Researchers.
  • Prepare annual reports required by state and federal agencies, respond to surveys from various sources dealing with professional and institutional issues, and collect statistics as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with District negotiated agreements, including but not limited to, monitoring the status of related timelines, counseling faculty loads, evaluation procedures, and grievances.
  • Supervise onboarding process and in-service education program for new student services division faculty and staff.
  • Pursue opportunities to secure grants, provide oversight of categorical and special funding, and develop resources in cooperation with the LATTC Executive Team.
  • Promote and facilitate a program of professional development for all faculty, administrative, and classified personnel within the division.
  • Lead, participate in, and/or attend institutional functions, such as convocations, student performances, and other related events. Participate in appropriate professional and community organizations.
  • Participate in the governance of the college through service on campus and district committees. Support the President in their duty to represent the college to its governing Board by attending regular Board of Trustee meetings; represents the college to the Board of Trustees in the President's absence. Represent the college in the capacity of Vice President of Student Services at other schools, professional meetings, and public functions.
  • On an on-going basis, provides leadership for accreditation issues related to Student Services. Coordinates annual unit plans and program reviews, and service outcomes.

  • Outreach and Recruitment
  • Counseling Services
  • Assessment Center
  • Financial Aid programs (federal, state, private, and scholarships)
  • Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)
  • Services for Students with Disabilities (DSPS)
  • Associated Student Union (Student Life)
  • Career Transfer Center
  • Child Development Center
  • International Student Program
  • Veterans' Center
  • Student Health Center
  • Student Discipline and Due Process

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The current salary range is $160,867 - $199,286 annually. The selected will be allocated within the salary range commensurate with educational preparation and related work experience and qualifications. The doctoral differential $5,060 per academic year. An excellent benefits package, including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance, is available for the employee and eligible dependents.
