Job Description

The Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED.  We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Teach American Heart Association’s BLS, ACLS, PALS, Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, AED courses. 
  • Maintain certification as an American Heart Association instructor.  
  • Evaluate skill performance and provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
  • Utilize the learning management system, Blackboard. 
  • Manage classroom attendance and record grades in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with other faculty to provide optimal learning experience.
  • Ability to teach face-to-face on campus and/or virtually in a structured remote teaching setting on a varied schedule that may be days, evenings or weekends.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree or a combination of education, training, and experience providing understanding of the field.
  • Experience in a healthcare field.
  • Must be an authorized by American Heart Association to teach one or more courses including: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, AED courses. 
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship   

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher. 
  • Prior teaching experience in American Heart Association or equivalent teaching and learning coursework. 
  • Active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical skills in the course content. 

As a condition of employment, the following are required at the time of hire:

  • Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).

  • For international degrees, you must provide US degree equivalency verified by a nationally recognized credential evaluation service.
