POSITION SUMMARY:
The Workforce & Continuing Education Department is hiring for a full-time, benefits eligible Business Solutions Coordinator.  This position is responsible for developing relationships with area business and industry, assessing training needs, coordinating contract/customized training to address identified business/industry training needs, and assisting with the development, implementation, and closeout of Skills Development Fund Grants.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Identify, develop, implement, and promote customized/contract training opportunities to meet the needs of local and regional business and industry.
  2. Maintain knowledge of area community and business resources (costs, profits, markets, new business opportunities, trends and activities) that will bring long-term positive relationships to the College.
  3. Make public presentations to area community organizations and businesses to promote activities of the Department.
  4. Coordinate long-range planning initiatives with the Director of Workforce & Continuing Education and Department staff to attain Department and College strategic goals.  
  5. Coordinate, in cooperation with the Marketing and Communication Department, strategies to publicize the contract training  opportunities and its products to existing and new markets in an effort to recruit students and business partnerships
  6. Work cooperatively with Director of Workforce & Continuing Education and Department staff on curriculum development, course design and implementation, reviewing course materials, recruiting instructors, managing budgets and recruiting students.
  7. Draft contracts with area businesses and Workforce Solutions of the Golden Crescent for contract training services for review and approval by the Director of Workforce & Continuing Education
  8. Work cooperatively with other College departments on development and administration of courses and services.
  9. Identify and assess the appropriateness and potential of grant funding opportunities and work with appropriate internal and external officials to prepare funding proposals and grant applications.
  10. Work with the Director of Grants Development in cooperation with area business and industry to develop Skills Development Fund Grant proposals.
  11. Assist Director of Grants Development in the review of newly approved/revised Skills Development Fund Grant contracts.
  12. Serve as interim grant manager for new Skills Development Fund Grant projects until a grant team has been hired. 
  13. Coordinate and facilitate training of Skills Development Fund Grant Manager and other grant staff on Victoria College and Texas Workforce Commission procedures, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  14. Serve as an advisor to the Skills Development Fund Grant Manager and other grant staff and oversee grant implementation, reporting, and closeout.
  15. Establish performance measurement factors to monitor course success and utilize results as a basis for recommended changes and new course development.
  16. Serve on Advisory Committees and other standing and ad-hoc committees as assigned.
  17. Manage duties to ensure that courses and instructors are in compliance with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, accrediting agencies and College policies and procedures.
  18. Serve on area committees and boards as requested by College administration.
  19. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Workforce & Continuing Education
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field. 
  2. A minimum of three years experience and demonstrated success in managing a complex organization or unit within a business or higher education setting.
  3. Ability to adapt and to work cooperatively with the other divisions within the College.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.
  5. Excellent organizational, budgeting, planning, and implementation skills, including ability to meet deadlines, attend to detail, and multi-task.
  6. Proficiency in computer applications including all Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  7. Ability to work a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends) to accommodate client/training needs.
  8. Valid driver's license and ability to travel off-campus. 
Preferred:
  1. Experience in continuing education programs, training, or related field.
  2. Experience in program coordinator/manager/director in higher education setting.
  3. Experience in human resources or corporate training, including organizational assessment.
  4. Experience designing/developing/managing educational programs for adults, including needs assessment or market research.
  5. Demonstrated entrepreneurial, customer-oriented approach.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
