Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Employee Benefits and Compensation, the Compensation Manager will assist HR Leadership in the planning, development, organization, and implementation of compensation strategies for the College. The incumbent will partner with departmental leaders to ensure that the compensation programs provide efficient and effective services that support the ongoing needs of the College. They will foster a team environment and a strong service culture that ensures engaging communications, delivery of timely and quality driven service to internal customers, and College stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• In coordination with HR Leadership develops, communicates and maintains fair compensation policies, practices, and processes in alignment with all legal and regulatory requirements and in support of TCC’s goals, principles, and policies
• Designs and implements effective job analysis, salary, incentive and title structures, considering the effectiveness of existing practices
• Utilizes coaching and leadership strategies to supervise team members when required
• Proactively maintains a pulse on compensation competitiveness, current market trends, and internal equity and engagement
• Identifies, analyzes and recommends improvements or changes to compensation programs based on market trends, company strategy, attraction and retaining top talent, cost effectiveness, and changes in regulations
• Communicates and negotiates salary offers to applicants recommended for hire and hiring officials as assigned
• Supports a one team HR mindset by using a customer-focused approach to deliver HR solutions through effective partnerships across the HR department, and other supporting functions as necessary
• Builds trust and rapport with all levels of faculty/staff in order to become a trusted HR asset throughout the College
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Human Resources, Management, or a related administrative field required
• Three (3) years of directly related HR and compensation experience
• One (1) year of supervisor experience in Human Resources
• Demonstrated ability to communicate in writing and verbally, to inform, persuade, influence, and/or recognize employees and managers at various levels of the organization
• Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning compensation
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
• Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
• Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products to include, but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
• Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information
• Ability to travel on a limited basis throughout the College and work flexible hours

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Human Resources or related field
• Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
SHRM-CP or PHR certification
• Human Resources experience in a higher education environment
• Supervisory experience in a higher education environment
