Christian Health Associates’ (CHA) Chief Executive Officer provides visionary leadership to manage a dynamic, highly regarded, non-profit, faith-based, health care organization providing essential health care services. Reporting to the CHA’s Board of Directors (BOD), the CEO is the intermediary between CHA’s Executive Leadership Team and the BOD. The CEO has the overall responsibility to lead the organization’s vision and mission and to achieve programmatic and financial success and sustainability. In collaboration with the CHA’s BOD, the CEO oversees administrative, health care, and fiscally sponsored program services.

Essential Functions:

  • With Christian values as the foundation of the CEO’s leadership, lead CHA’s vibrant, well-established health care organization, with grace, emotional intelligence, and business acumen
  • Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and core values, by leading with transparency, innovation, and strategic planning
  • Provide visionary leadership to CHA’s three primary services (medical, counseling, and recovery) and four fiscally sponsored programs (Alaska Medical Missions, Anchorage Project Access, Healthy Smiles Forever, School Based Health Centers) focused on results and continuous quality improvement
  • Maintain and enhance CHA’s exemplary standing in the community by continually balancing community needs with internal capacity and by focusing on services and fiscal accountability
  • Ensure long-term financial sustainability of the organization
  • Hold the well-being of agency employees as part of a sacred trust to care for the caregivers by working to offer competitive salaries and benefits
  • Promote CHA’s services in the community
  • Promote a Christian-oriented environment with a commitment to a high standard of excellence, integrity, and compassionate care
  • Lead the development and implementation of CHA’s strategic plan
  • Solicit guidance and advice from the BOD
  • Operate as a servant-leader to all employees and lead by example
  • Promote continuous improvement and sustainability throughout the organization and assess its effectiveness on a regular basis
  • Practice open communication throughout the organization
  • Working with CHA and other agency directors, ensure all employees understand the impact of the organization and the services provided by CHA programs
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with governmental, philanthropic, and other nonprofit community stakeholders
  • Build consensus by convening and facilitating diverse groups of stakeholders around a common goal or project

Essential duties of the job

ADMINISTRATIVE

75% Daily

Demonstrate Christian principles by serving as a role model in internal and external communication and in decision making

Weekly

Review financial reports to ensure cost containment measures are in place and positive cash flow is a priority for long-term sustainability.

Weekly

As the leader of the Executive team, meet weekly to manage department goals and achievements, review revenue and expenses, identify financial, programmatic, and human resource issues, and lead the team to solutions

Weekly

Establish and maintain an in-depth understanding of the medical, counseling, and recovery programs, as well as all four sponsored programs under the CHA umbrella to promote successful program delivery and encourage collaboration among departments and programs

Weekly

In collaboration with the Executive team, maintain awareness of the CHA work environment to ensure staff satisfaction is high and address areas needing improvement. Invest in short and long-term planning for improvements in compensation and benefits.

Weekly/as needed

Maintain close working relationship with board president to foster board support of program strengths and challenges

In collaboration with Board President, develop Board meeting agendas

Regularly review, update, and achieve, CHA’s strategic plan goals and outcomes

Biannual

Prepare a formal review to the CHA’s board of directors regarding progress in achieving the CHA’s strategic plan outcomes

Lead the monthly CHA directors’ meetings with CHA executive team and directors of sponsored programs to assess program effectiveness and assist with strategic planning

Semi-annually

Develop ideas for additional lines of business in response to community needs and CHA’s strategic plan, while assessing programmatic suitability with existing services, and evaluate sustainability plans for generating revenue

Semi-annually

In collaboration with the Executive Team and other agency directors, generate ideas for staff engagement activities

Quarterly/as needed

Actively support program fundraising activities

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Monthly

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with existing community partners to ensure CHA remains as a leader in nonprofit innovation and program development. Develop new partnerships that serve the CHA mission

Monthly

Consult with executive team and program directors to review partnerships and take recommendations for additional community partnerships

Ongoing

Provide presentations on CHA programs and services at local, statewide, and national conferences or meetings as appropriate. May delegate to agency staff as needed.

Special conditions of employment

  • Must be a practicing Christian and live a Christian oriented lifestyle
  • Advanced degree in health care management, health care administration, business administration, public health, social services
  • Must have a minimum of ten years’ executive level experience in managing complex health care or social service systems of care in the private or nonprofit sector, adhering to the highest standards of program, fiscal, and health care related services
  • Understanding the process of program and financial regulations and compliance
  • Practice servant leadership in all aspects of leading the organization
  • Experience working with a nonprofit board of directors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage internal and external communication
  • A successful track record in relationship building including experience with political leaders, community engagement, and organizational partnerships.
  • Proven ability to develop and successfully implement strategic/business plans
  • Adept at attending to health care trends and manage program development accordingly
  • Well-developed organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in relevant field

Preferred graduate level degree in Business, Public Health, or related fields. Experience may be substituted for formal education.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
