Job Summary

Responsible for the daily operations of the broadcasting studio, development and creation of internal television and radio patient broadcasting programs. Responsibilities will include implementing and producing media content, operating the broadcasting studio and all equipment related, oversight of the STEAM gaming systems throughout the organization and encouraging/facilitating participation from patients and families in all media programs.

Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Collaborate with Certified Child Life Specialist III (Media Lead) and hospital staff to develop and facilitate live and recorded broadcasts. Generate new creative ideas for broadcasts, new media projects, and assigned hospital-wide initiatives.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in production television and radio equipment, software, and best practices, including but not limited to lighting, cameras and audio set-up; maintain all equipment in the studio.

  • Manage media production, including on air host/ hosting shows, conducting guest interviews, creating show content.

  • Facilitate patient and family participation in media programs, coordinate staff hosting schedules, develop resources to inform patients, families and staff about programming and participating options and manage media and events calendar.

  • Identify marketing opportunities to inform patient families and hospital staff about Media and Events.

  • Serve as initial point of contact for day to day operations of the studio.

  • Identify areas for patient education and interactivity.

  • Analyzes and tracks studio statistics, suggesting improvements as needed; provides monthly reports to Director and FRC -Manager?.

  • Build relationships with companies, media personalities, and non-profit organizations who wish to support LPCH through technology and technology based programing.

  • Troubleshoot audio/video problems within broadcasting studio as well as with the STEAM gaming systems at the bedside.

  • Maintain and select games and equipment for the STEAM gaming system.

  • Trains, supports and oversees studio volunteers, students or interns.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a work/health-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

License/Certification: None

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.

  • Working knowledge of radio and television broadcasting equipment and software, including, but not limited to: Macintosh/Windows computer equipment, video mixer/switchers, audio recording equipment, and video equipment.

  • Ability to complete all responsibilities and tasks assigned in an independent, efficient and organized manner.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with broadcasting range of individuals including children, families the general public and professionals. Pediatric hospital experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects/programs.

  • Ability to adapt programs, equipment and materials to meet the needs of children and families.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and in a positive manner with others.

  • Ability to train and support others.

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of infant, child and adolescent growth and development.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $68,577.60 to $90,968.80
