Basic Function and Responsibility:

Under direct supervision, the Programmer Analyst, provides basic professional level support in areas of advanced complexity such as systems analysis to evaluate business objectives, facilitate definition of user requirements, and implement and maintain software applications, technical processes, and system integrations. Frequently interacts with users, using iterative development techniques like Agile and Scrum. Writes, tests, and troubleshoots code of routine to moderate complexity for review by senior level technical staff. Serves as technical resource on maintaining established applications and assists with programming on implementations and operational support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with several functions/projects critical to the Foundation information systems department
  • Creates and modifies SQL queries, reports, and datasets for the Foundation’s business intelligence systems
  • Participates in development, implementation, operation, documentation, and maintenance of assigned projects and production systems
  • Writes and maintains technical documentation, including user requirements, program specifications, flow diagrams, data dictionaries, screen layouts and user instructions
  • Creates and executes test-plans to verify system function
  • Trains users and troubleshoots questions relating to user needs

Desired Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience writing complex SQL queries in Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle databases
  • Proven skills successfully interacting with users in a fast-moving environment
  • Positive, flexible approach to problem solving
  • Ability to develop solutions in Business Intelligence reporting systems such as SQL Server Reporting Services, Power BI, or Tableau
  • Solid understanding of, and experience with, relational databases including Oracle and MS SQL Server
