Job Description:

A Post-doctoral Associate position is available for the University of Florida LIGO group led by Dr. David Tanner and Dr. Paul Fulda. The postdoc will contribute to our research on two fronts. The first is research into materials and devices for future gravitational-wave detectors, with emphasis on the input and output optics of these instruments.  The second is the optical design of the Cosmic Explorer interferometer, the US third-generation detector, with detailed simulations of the performance of competing designs.  

Must have Ph.D. in Physics or a related area. This position will be initially awarded for one year, and, contingent upon strong performance, conduct, and availability of funds, may be renewed for up to three years.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will be a member of the UF LIGO group. She or he will contribute to our research on two fronts. Expected Salary:  The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the compensation includes a full benefits package.
Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. in physics or a related area  

Preferred Qualifications:

Several years of experience in experimental work on gravitational-wave detectors, advanced laser metrology, and simulations of complex optical cavities. This experience could be as a graduate student or as a current postdoc.
