Job Description


The University of Virginia’s Center for Leading Edge Addiction Research (CLEAR) team seeks an MD or DO Post-doctoral Research Associate candidate. The purpose of this appointment is to provide training in preparation for an academic or research-related career. The CLEAR Research Associate will be significantly involved in assisting the principal investigator and the entire research team on all current and future addiction research projects. The incumbent will also work with all members of the research and clinical staff assisting in managing all aspects of various other grants and clinical projects.  This will include research participant medical oversight, data management as well as final data analysis assistance and regular program reporting.  The incumbent will also assist with writing and reviewing abstracts and manuscripts. Also, may include program creation, design, and development in collaboration with the entire team. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and perform assignments of their own initiative and with a minimum of direction. The individual should have a positive attitude as well as enjoy contributing significantly to the team institution goals. In additional to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess a terminal medical degree (example: MD, DO) by the appointment start date. Applicants with one or more years of research experience in an applicable area are strongly encouraged to apply.

Postdoctoral employment is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a doctoral degree within the previous five years. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal (for an additional two, one-year increments) contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

This position will remain open until filled. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.  A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.
