Delaware State University
Vacancy Announcement - Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Department of Chemistry
Apply online at www.desu.edu
Applications will be accepted until position is filled

THIS IS A 100% GRANT FUNDED POSITION

The Functional Nano porous Material group in the Department of Chemistry at DESU is running a research program on the design, synthesis and engineering of chemical sensors for water quality monitoring and detection. The aim of the research is to design, develop and optimize novel nanomaterials for the detection of heavy metals, anions, and toxic organic pollutants in fresh water and/or sea water.

The Group is currently looking for a highly experienced, highly motivated, self-driven and creative postdoctoral research fellow to augment the team. At this moment, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with:

Strong background in material science or chemistry of materials relevant for chemical sensing applications. Experience in correlating material properties (phase purity, porosity, crystallinity, composition, film morphology, interfaces) with small organic molecule synthesis will be positively evaluated. Direct or indirect expertise with theoretical simulations will be considered a plus. Experience in field works for water sample collection will also be positively evaluated. The incumbent should have experience with the chemistry of nanostructured materials (carbons, polymers etc.) and be familiar in the preparation of setups for the optical and electronic characterization of chemical sensors.

Interested candidates must apply online for full consideration. Applications should include (1) a cover letter, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) official undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and (4) contact information of three references from which recommendations can be requested. All these components are required to be placed in a single pdf file, submitted to the online application system and also emailed to: Chemistry Department Personnel Committee, yyue@desu.edu.
