Job Description

 

Walsh College was founded in 1922 with our main campus located in Troy, MI. We are an accredited institution that offers various business certificate programs as well as internationally and nationally ranked business and technology bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. We are looking for experienced and talented individuals who are serious about helping students reach their educational and professional goals.
 
Major Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses in the classroom at various campuses and online in several of the following subjects:
    • Accounting
      • Auditing & Attestation
      • Financial Accounting & Reporting
      • Taxation & Regulation
      • Business Analysis & Reporting
      • Information Systems & Controls
      • Tax Compliance & Planning
    • Multiple disciplines preferred (i.e., IT, Financials, etc.)
  • Develop, revise, continuously improve course materials and associated assessment processes to ensure a high level of quality, rigor, and academic standards are met within the subjects provided above, while following course development processes and procedures and meeting deadlines..
  • Assist in revising curricula and delivery methods to meet the needs of students and employers.
  • Assist leadership in recruiting, managing, and scheduling adjunct faculty members.
  • Advise students on course selections and career paths.
  • Engage in an active program of scholarship following the college’s scholarship framework and requirements, contributing to the theoretical and practical body of knowledge.
  • Maintain appropriate professional association relationships.
  • Maintain industry specific knowledge for ongoing teaching needs.
  • Provide timely student learning outcomes data as it relates to the courses taught and academic program(s).
  • Participate in program advisory committee meetings.
  • Engage with external audiences, such as community college faculty members and employers.
  • Participate in enrollment, career services, alumni, and recruitment-related functions.
  • Participate in College service activities.
  • Support and follow college policies and procedures.
  • Support and embrace institutional vision, mission, and values.
  • Participate in accreditation efforts and support.
  • When appropriate and as directed, respond to appropriate media requests for interviews, comments, or articles.
  • Assist in planning for and recommending academic-related technology for the learning environment.
  • Develop and deliver reports to management, Board of Trustees and other groups, as requested.
  • Participate in the College’s planning and budgeting process, as requested.
  • Participate on doctoral dissertation committees, as requested.
  • Maintain educational and industry specific professional and ethical standards consistently.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Terminal degree in accounting preferred or closely related field with 18 graduate credit hours in required field and/or subfield needed per accrediting and college teaching guidelines.
  • A minimum of four years related professional work experience is required.
  • College level teaching experience required.
  • Related professional certifications are a plus (CPA and/or CMA)
  • Course or program creation experience preferred.
  • Ability to teach and engage adult learners who possess professional experience.
  • Knowledge of current technology used in accounting related professions required.
  • Superior written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work collegially with multiple constituencies in a dynamic academic environment.
  • Possesses the presence, intelligence, and communication skills to represent the College effectively in various situations, including public presentations.
  • Willingness and capability to teach online and at various local locations and times required.
