The Smart Material Lab at the University of North Texas is a hub of cutting-edge research in the realm of piezoelectric sensors Led by Dr. Haifeng Zhang, our lab is a dynamic environment where creativity and discovery thrive.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
The Smart Material Lab is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate that will include the following responsibilities:
  • Conducting advanced research in MEMS resonator fabrication, simulation, and testing.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to both graduate and undergraduate students working alongside Dr. Zhang.
  • Collaborating on the development and writing of external grant proposals.
  • Offering valuable insights by reviewing and providing constructive feedback on research papers, oral presentations, and related projects.
  • Participating actively in research meetings and events, occasionally representing Dr. Zhan.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A PhD (or imminent PhD completion) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
  • A proven track record of independent research accomplishments and the ability to effectively communicate research findings.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage involvement in multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, essential for mentoring students and collaborating with fellow researchers at UNT.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience and publications in MEMS device fabrication and testing are preferred.
  • Experience in writing grant proposals.
