Position Summary Information



Carleton College, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, seeks applicants for the Robert A. Oden, Jr. Postdoctoral Fellowship for Innovation in the Liberal Arts, a two-year position in Socio-Cultural and/or Linguistic Anthropology, to begin September 1, 2020. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand (received less than five years ago) by the start-date of the position. Appointment involves half-time research and writing, and half-time teaching for a total of 5 courses over a two-year, six-term period (2-3 courses per year). Research focus is open but preference will be given to scholars whose research and teaching complement the strengths of the department, in particular around issues of social justice. Regarding geographical expertise, the department seeks regions not represented by current faculty. The position involves teaching one introductory course in Anthropology each year, with the other courses a mix between introductory, middle-level, and upper-level classes.
