Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology

Job Description


The Department of Anthropology at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment whose scholarship focuses on the study of inequality and whose research involves the use of visual or multi-modal methods and forms of knowledge production. We welcome applications from individuals whose work contributes to ethnographic theory and practice. Anthropology at Dartmouth is a vibrant intellectual community spanning the four subfields, with one of the strongest records of undergraduate teaching and mentoring in our discipline among US liberal arts colleges. (For more information, please visit our website. ) This faculty member will contribute to the Anthropology Department’s core curriculum and will have opportunities to develop new courses reflecting their areas of specialization. Although this position will be housed entirely within Anthropology, the person hired may pursue faculty affiliations with other relevant departments and programs. The successful candidate will be appointed initially as a Faculty Fellow, a two-year residential postdoctoral appointment. After this two-year period, the position will convert to a regular tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor.
