THE OPPORTUNITY

Mercy’s Gate, located in the heart of Colorado Springs, CO, is looking for its next President & CEO to lead them into the next season of growth. Serving El Paso County for over 40 years, Mercy’s Gate provides direct services and support to under-resourced individuals and families. For neighbors (those served by Mercy’s Gate) in crisis, Mercy’s Gate offers relief, the hope of the Gospel, and a vision for restoration. In Colorado Springs, poverty is hidden in plain sight. Mercy’s Gate continues to grow as the needs of the Colorado Springs community grow. Partners include over fifty local churches, several community organizations, and thousands of engaged stakeholders and volunteers who give their time, resources, and talents to further the unified mission of serving the city. The next leader will step into an organization positioned for growth, building on its strong financial, relational, and strategic foundation.

THE ORGANIZATION

Founded in 1982, Mercy’s Gate is a faith-based, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. A front-line ministry, Mercy’s Gate has an evangelical approach to poverty. One out of three El Paso County residents works hard but still struggles to survive. Mercy’s Gate creates a much-needed safety net, providing hardworking individuals and families a safe place to turn in challenging times. They work with neighbors to learn about their unique situation, offer direct services, and connect them to resources. Coordinating closely with its mission partners, Mercy’s Gate is able to provide services and assistance for those in need. Food Pantry - emergency 3-day food supply for families Direct Services - assistance with rent/mortgage, utilities, medical expenses, transportation, and clothing/household items Seasonal Services Program - seasonal-specific opportunities, including a back-to-school backpack drive, tax assistance, holiday meal kits, etc. Compassion Services - prayer, counseling, and the Hope of the Gospel Community Referrals Program - access to a wide variety of services and support available through other agencies, ministries, and organizations in El Paso County Mercy’s Gate integrates a comprehensive, innovative approach to equip those in crisis with tangible solutions. They work closely with local churches to mobilize volunteers who offer hands-on, life-changing support and resources to people in need. Mercy’s Gate believes in helping the whole person. They provide a hand up, not a hand out, through financial, physical, emotional, spiritual, educational, and career-oriented resources and support systems. The committed volunteer team and dedicated stakeholders participate in Kingdom work every day, meeting neighbors where they are in their moment of crisis. Staff and volunteers humbly serve with a “boots on the ground” approach to provide face-to-face interaction and assistance for those in need.

THE POSITION

The next President and CEO will have an incredible opportunity to provide missionminded leadership, build on ministry partner relationships, and joyfully promote and grow the services offered to those in need. The ideal candidate will be an engaging visionary, a gifted communicator, and an inspiring collaborator with the staff, community partners, and volunteers. The right leader will have a heart for Jesus and a love and compassion for people in need.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Chief Fundraiser - research funding sources; develop and implement fundraising activities; oversee grant writing; solicit and create funding proposals
  • Spokesperson - build relationships and communicate with churches, ministry partners, business/community partners, donors, foundations, public relations; and media
  • Culture Curator - select, train, supervise, and develop staff and volunteers to carry out the mission Steward - allocate staff, funding, and resources appropriately to advance the ministry’s effectiveness, growth, viability, relevance, sustainability, and ministry impact
  • Vision Castor - develop and implement comprehensive, strategic plans to ensure excellence in the organization’s programs, projects, and services
  • Strategic Administrator - manage daily operations, partner relationships, administration, and budget

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Humble, servant leader who embraces Mercy’s Gate mission
  • Previous experience operating a similar size organization preferred
  • Highly relational, approachable, and accessible
  • Strong organizational, team-building, and administrative skills
  • Mature Christ-follower
  • Graduate degree preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $115,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Colorado Springs, CO 80918: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
