Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year directly related full-time work experience or Associates Degree and three (3) years directly related full-time work experience or any combination of verifiable higher education attainment and directly related full-time work experience equal to five (5) years.

Position Summary

Will also be responsible for awarding federal, state, institutional and private sources of financial aid to students within appropriate guidelines and regulations, Advises students and parents regarding availability of financial aid, the eligibility requirements and the application process. Provides information on scholarship and loan options, alternative financing and debt management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide students with accurate information regarding application process, loan counseling and their eligibility for State/Federal financial assistance, alternative financing, contracts and/or institutional payment plans.
• Compare data on student’s applications, such as proposed budget, family income, etc. to determine the amount of aid and need of students. Research student files in the National Student Loan Data Systems history.
• Review/correct financial applications and disclosure statements for completeness and accuracy. Create, maintain, process, and update files, records, and other documents.
• Responsible for determining eligibility for and processing of student loan applications.
• Oversee receipt, disbursement and transmittal of returned loan funds. Responsible for reconciliation of the loan fund pass through account.
• Responsible for coordinating all activities related to the operation of the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program and alternative loans to include keeping up to date with changing regulations, interfacing with COD, NSLDS and loan servicer’s, overseeing default aversion activities and assisting in development of policies, procedures and forms.
• Coordinate all entrance and exit loan counseling sessions to include arranging schedule, ensuring schedule is posted on financial aid web page, updating entrance presentations based on updated regulations and designing and implementing enhancements to the entrance and exit loan counseling procedure.
• Serve as a liaison with external agencies in processing of student loans. Communicate effectively and professionally with representatives from the loan servicer’s community and COD regarding loan process including the resolution of loan problems.
• Assist in evaluation of aid eligibility and awarding of aid; advise students and families regarding all aspects of student financial aid programs and delivery system.
• Conduct Financial Aid workshops for current and prospective students on campus and in the community.
• Generates reports as needed.
• Manage the Hazlewood Act Exemption process.
• Advise prospective and continuing students and parents regarding financial aid applications, procedures, eligibility requirements, and college policies.
• Provides customer service for students/parents’ inquiries regarding their financial aid status.
• Greets and directs visitors to the appropriate departments.
• Prepares copies and sends faxes.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of principles and practices of PC’s and related software.
• Knowledge of student financial aid programs and their rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements.
• Knowledge of college’s curriculum programs, their requirements, and other operations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Receptionist skills.
• Word processing, data entry skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
• Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• The ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, and customers of the college.
• Ability to calculate simple to moderately complex mathematical equations.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other people.
• Ability to provide financial counseling and information for completing the necessary application forms and reports.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and funding agencies and organizations.
• Ability to maximize the amount of financial aid received by students to enable them to have a successful educational experience.

Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment.

Work Schedule

Spring/Fall hours:
Monday-Thursday: 8:00am to 6:00pm
Friday: 8:00am to 12:00pm

Summer Hours:
Monday-Thursday: 7:30am to 6:00pm
