Position Summary
Located in North Portland, in the historic Albina Neighborhood, the Cascade Campus is one of PCC’s four comprehensive campuses. It is a premier urban campus, meaning the campus is highly engaged and socially involved in the community. The campus serves as a resource to educate and train area residents and contributes to the health, development, and vitality of North and Northeast Portland. Over 20,000 students enroll at Cascade annually in one of 60+ degree or certificate programs.

- Teach a broad range of chemistry courses,
- Teach online chemistry courses,
- Engage with colleagues toward strengthening the lecture & lab resources for CH courses,
- Provide mentoring to part-time faculty in the department,
- Work with a diverse student population,
- Implement strategies in the classroom that support the YESS initiatives at PCC,
- Demonstrate a commitment to the community college mission.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Master’s degree (or higher) in the subject area
OR
Master’s degree (or higher) in a related area, plus
30 quarter hours of graduate credit in the subject area

Related Area degrees include but are not limited to:
Agricultural Chemistry
Biophysics
Chemical Biology
Chemical Engineering
Environmental Science
Materials Engineering
Material Science

These lists of subject and related areas may not be inclusive as there are other degree titles that may be appropriate. The Division Dean, in consultation with the Faculty Department Chair, will make a recommendation to the Dean of Instruction about the applicability of a particular degree that is outside the scope of this list.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be give to applicants who: - Are highly qualified to teach lecture and lab courses in one or more of the areas of Chemistry;
- Have the background skills and experience, as well as a willingness, to provide significant contributions to the division's efforts to improve and expand on our face to face and online resources;
- Can provide leadership for the Cascade campus in its initiatives.
Starting Salary Expectations Initial Salary Placement up to Step 3 ($56,274) will be based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement.
Position Grade Salary Range $52530 to $91089 Annual Salary

PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP.  PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waver for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.
* Please note: Temporary Full-Time Faculty are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.
Paid Leave:
1 day of sick leave for every 18 days worked (~10 days/year)
21 hours of additional personal leave per year
4 paid holidays (which occur during the term you are teaching)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.
