The President & CEO of the SICSA Pet Adoption & Wellness Center is responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and overall management of the organization. This individual will be at the forefront of SICSA’s mission to enhance the welfare of animals, promote pet adoption, and ensure the well-being of pets and the community. The President & CEO will work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders to achieve the organization’s goals and uphold its reputation as a prominent and impactful animal welfare organization.

Key Responsibilities

Visionary Leadership:

  • Set a compelling vision for SICSA that aligns with its mission and fosters a culture of compassion, innovation, and excellence.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to work towards the organization's long-term objectives and fulfill its animal welfare commitments.

Strategic Direction:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to advance SICSA's mission and address the evolving needs of the community and animal welfare landscape.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, collaboration, and partnerships to expand the organization's reach and impact.

Organizational Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of SICSA, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services.
  • Provide guidance to the leadership team, promoting a cohesive and coordinated approach in achieving organizational goals.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to define and execute a strategic vision for the organization.
  • Engage with staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and the public to foster meaningful relationships and enhance support for SICSA's initiatives.

Fundraising and Resource Development:

  • Lead fundraising efforts, seeking diverse funding sources and cultivating relationships with donors and sponsors.
  • Ensure the organization's financial stability by managing budgets and resources prudently.

Advocacy and Outreach:

  • Represent SICSA in the community, acting as a spokesperson and advocate for animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
  • Build strong alliances with local authorities, animal rescue groups, and advocacy organizations to address pertinent animal welfare issues.

Animal Welfare and Wellness:

  • Champion high standards of intake diversion, animal care, adoption, and veterinary practices within the organization and the broader community.
  • Prioritize the well-being and safety of animals in SICSA's care.

Public Relations and Communication:

  • Develop and execute effective marketing and communication strategies to raise awareness of SICSA's mission and activities.
  • Enhance the organization's public image and brand presence.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership and advanced management experience in a nonprofit, animal welfare, or related organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of animal welfare issues preferred, a strong commitment to promoting community-driven results required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; personable and diplomatic in working with diverse constituencies and inspiring participation from volunteers, members, donors, and community members.
  • Successful track record in fundraising, donor relations, and resource development.
  • Excellent fundraising abilities, including the ability to secure major and planned gifts from individual donors, foundations and corporations.
  • Significant financial management; understanding business principles applied to a nonprofit enterprise and excellent budget management.
  • Excellent public presentation skills; including the ability to speak with the media in a variety of situations, and to present as a credible and passionate spokesperson who will welcome and respect the multiple perspectives and groups that demonstrate an active interest in animal welfare.
  • Excellent written communication skills including presentation, grant writing, press releases, policies and procedure manuals.
  • Significant personnel management skills that include an ability to work collaboratively, listen, provide feedback, build morale, delegate, "roll up one's sleeves" and make decisions are essential.
  • Self-driven; able to multitask and inspire staff and volunteers to extend SICSA’s mission and activities.
  • Entrepreneurial and creative.
  • Able to manage change, planning, forecasting, and determining courses of action.
  • An analytic approach to work, constantly thinking in terms of iteration, testing, measurement, and redirection.
  • Collaborative approach to working with diverse stakeholders and building partnerships.
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation.

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  • SICSA Adoption Center is open seven days a week, with many fundraising and collaborative opportunities taking place in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Must have the ability to meet alternative availability and schedule expectations.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record as defined by SICSA’s current insurance carrier. Travel to and from appointments and events will be required.
  • Must have a philosophy that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience using constituent relationship management database desirable.
