Job Description


The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to work in the lab of Professor Nikolaos Sidiropoulos. 

 

The successful candidate will perform and co-supervise research in the area of signal processing for communications and machine learning, with an emphasis on theory, methods, and algorithms. Requirements for the position include strong background in linear algebra, optimization, statistical estimation and learning, and a proven track record of publications in top conferences and journals. Advanced programming skills in Matlab and Python required. Proposal-writing experience is desirable. Background in signal processing or wireless communications is a plus. The successful candidate will work as part of the team to define new research directions, conduct research, act as first-order supervisor of graduate students, and contribute to publications, grant progress reports, and proposal writing. Mentoring and professional development opportunities will be provided by Prof. Sidiropoulos.

  

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field is required by appointment date. Strong background in linear algebra, optimization, statistical estimation and learning, and Matlab/Python programming required. A proven track record of publications in top conferences and journals is a must.

This is a one-year appointment which may be renewed for an additional year, contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding availability.
