What we want

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will produce preliminary data to submit proposals on remediating pollutants in agricultural water. The removal of various pollutants in water and wastewater will also be pursued.

Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education:

  • PhD with emphasis on remediation processes to improve public health.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in writing peer-reviewed high impact journal articles. 

  • Experience in writing proposals.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in plotting results using professional scientific software is preferred.



Responsibilities:

  • Experimental Research Support for Project: In this research, environmental-friendly technology will be tested to remediate contaminants of concerns.  These include pharmaceuticals in water and wastewater.  The efficiency of the technology will be determined by carrying out fundamental studies in laboratory prior to applying the technology to pilot scale systems.   The tested technology may include iron-, carbon- and  persulfate and ferrate-visible light mediated advanced oxidation processes. The postdoctoral research associate will determine the dominated reactive species to cause degradation of target contaminants.

  • Reporting: Document research data and accurately record and present results. Other report assistance as needed. Have published peer-reviewed journal articles.

  • Data Analysis: Conduct quantitative and qualitative research including kinetics and separation analysis. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will perform analysis to determine reaction rate constants of contaminants with reactive oxidative species.  The measurements on removal efficiency of pollutants under different environmental conditions will be performed. Performs other duties as assigned.
