Overview
Established in 1962, Kent-Sussex Industries, Inc. (KSI), provides person-centered supports to assist people with disabilities in their pursuit of meaningful employment and participation in their communities. Located in
Milford, DE, KSI offers a range of renowned, quality programs and services throughout southern Delaware to help individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities attain their life goals. Serving more than 260 individuals and families in 2023 through a range of programming, this $8M nonprofit organization seeks a proven leader to leverage and expand upon its success.
The CEO
- Provides leadership and direction in informing and implementing KSI’s goals and objectives in keeping with its mission, strategic priorities, and capacity.
- Represents the organization and its mission to various and multiple constituencies including community members, government agencies, donors, business leaders, and partners.
- Partners with the board in developing strategic priorities and oversees all facilities and operations, ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of strategic initiatives and delivery of programs and services.
- Leads the board and staff in ensuring successful and measurable achievement of various revenue and program quality goals.
Qualifications
- A clear affinity for and commitment to KSI’s mission of assisting people with disabilities in living their best lives and experience in working with vulnerable populations.
- Proven abilities in effectively leading an organization of comparable size and complexity, or a division/department of a large, purpose-driven organization.
- Proven financial management skills and knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, ideally having managed multiple revenue streams and ensured proper stewardship of funds donated by individuals, government agencies, and others.
- Proven experience in planning and providing steady, yet motivational leadership through a period of organizational change
- High level of emotional intelligence with experience in building, managing, and leading staff as well as in leveraging and collaborating with a nonprofit board of directors.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with keen ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including: consumers, families, donors, business owners, local and state officials, and community members.
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present, speak publicly on, and advocate for relevant issues.
- Proven skill in fund development through various techniques, including major donor cultivation.
- An appreciation for the distinctive aspects of the Delaware service landscape.
- Education and experience that demonstrates competent leadership and management skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
