CLASS DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this class is to advise, counsel and assist faculty members in designing and creating high quality courses in accordance with the instructional and teaching policies of CCBC.
Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field.  Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in one of the following:  Instructional Systems, Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Design or related field and five years of full time experience in Instructional Design. Experience in facilitating online training or teaching online or blended in higher education. Experience with managing complex technology-based projects required. Quality Matters certification preferred, if hired Quality Matters Certification must be obtained within six months of employment.

CLASS SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Provide consultation and assistance to CCBC faculty in the application of instructional design and instructional technology through substantive experience, collaboration and problem resolution.

  2. Design and develop courses and training applying current instructional technology principles.

  3. Conduct training workshops in area of assignment; conduct research, present information, develop materials, consider delivery format.

  4. Remain current on instructional technology/design research.

  5. Assist in assessing the instructional effectiveness of course materials that are produced through advanced  knowledge, skill and expertise,

  6. Provide periodic reports on course development projects and faculty development needs.

POSITION SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Identify appropriate instructional strategies and define learning objective appropriate to curriculum.

  2. Collect, analyze and report data on the programs progress, challenges and areas for improvement.

  3. Assist in managing the implementation of Quality Matters at CCBC; including:  maintaining reviewer and trainer certifications and active involvement with promoting Quality Matters in course development

  4. Disseminate throughout the college of new developments in E- learning technologies, best practices, quality assurance and pedagogy.

  5. Provide training in quality assurance measures and maintain respective certifications.

  6. Analyze characteristics of existing and emerging technologies and their potential use.

  7. Present and promote throughout the college new developments in E-learning technologies, best practices related to teaching and learning.

  8. Research, plan, design, develop, assess and facilitate professional development resources and support for faculty developing or facilitating E-learning courses, including but not limited to online, blended, videoconference formats.

  9. Ensure effective communications and needs for E-learning courses from an instructional design perspective.

  10.  Develop instructional materials for faculty and staff training related to the LMS and other appropriate learning technologies.
