Job Summary

We are seeking to recruit a creative, motivated, and enthusiastic postdoc in the lab group of Dr. André Hudson (https://people.rit.edu/aohsbi/ ) in the College of Science, Dean's Office at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) (https://www.rit.edu/science/ ). The primary research themes in the Hudson lab focus on antibiotic resistance/development, amino acid metabolism, genomics, and structural biology. This position will also provide teaching opportunities in addition to research.  The position is renewable upon successful progress annually for up to 3 years.


Job Responsibilities

Specific duties:

  • Design and perform molecular, genetics, biochemical, and structural studies
  • Prepare publications,  grants, presentations, and summaries
  • Student oversight
  • Opportunity for teaching 

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • A PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Structural Biology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, and genomic techniques
  • A solid publication record
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with other researchers

Department/College Description

The College of Science has 880 undergraduate students, 325 graduate students and 274 faculty and staff members. It delivers the required scientific and mathematical education for most of the programs offered at RIT. The College of Science houses four of RIT’s eight Ph.D. programs – color science, astrophysical sciences and technology, mathematical modeling and imaging science.

The College of Science offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences, the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, the School of Mathematics and Statistics, the School of Physics and Astronomy, and the Integrated Sciences Academy. It also offers many research opportunities and programs and houses a number of research centers and laboratories  that are conducting world-renowned research. In addition to its degree programs, the College delivers the required scientific and mathematical underpinnings for most of the programs offered at RIT.
