Position Description

The Director will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Truck Driver Training Program, including recruiting, registration/enrollment process, job placement, supervision of staff, and oversight of the entire teaching/learning process.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Promote and market the Truck Driver Training Program throughout the entire LLCC district via High School appearances, job fairs, and other various means in the community. Assist in Workforce Careers Center tours as necessary.

  • Conduct one-on-one interviews (phone and in-person) with potential Truck Driver Training students. Using software, determine student program eligibly as well as enter student information on a database, build individual classes, register students and invoice the funding agencies or students as required.

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Truck Driver Training Specialists and instructors.

  • Lead student retention initiatives for students in the program. Maintain regular contact with all students within program area and responds to their questions and/or concerns in a timely manner.

  • In conjunction with Public Relations and Marketing, develop and implement advertising and marketing strategies for the Truck Driver Training program.

  • Develop, manage and assess the Truck Driver Training annual budget.

  • Maintain relationships with employers and various funding agencies. Communicate with funding agencies and employers to keep them updated on student progress, attendance, GPA, and employment information. Coordinate the job placement of students including processing of applications, career strategies education, and ongoing communication with employers.

  • Oversees status of quality of curriculum, instructional materials, equipment, and facilities. Serves as a subject matter expert regarding curriculum for program area.

  • Schedule, develop agenda for, and coordinate the Program Advisory Board committee.

  • Create the master schedule regarding course offerings, room assignments, and instructor teaching assignments.

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience but will be no less than $54,300 per year with an excellent benefit package.

Position Requirements

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field (extensive, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)

  • Two years of experience in recruiting, program management, training, sales, or related area

  • Class A-CDL license, DOT physical card, and certificate from a certified Truck Driver Program.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
