The Employment Specialist is responsible for providing discovery, job research, job placement, and intermittent job maintenance services to individuals with barriers in the community. In addition, they will aid individuals referred by various funding sources for career exploration and job placement in the community.

 

Requirements:

Essential Functions

  • Provides individual assistance to participants that can include, but is not limited to, arranging, and assisting with interviews, preparing resumes and applications, vocational exploration, profiling, job site assessments, job shadows, trial work experiences, and job coaching.
  • Identifies accommodations at work sites to enable the individuals to perform tasks as efficiently as possible.
  • Develops and maintain productive relationships with local employers, referral sources, clients, parents, co-workers, and others as appropriate.
  • Maintains familiarity with participant specific information by attending conferences and reading files prior to onset of job development.
  • Maintains communication with client, employer, parents, funding sources and co-workers.
  • Makes a minimum of weekly meaningful contact with each participant on caseload.
  • Maintains business related information in business contact files.
  • Monitors and documents in Accel participant progress including necessary prompts, redirection, and successes.
  • Missed appointments, failed attempts to contact, no shows, etc. must be documented in Accel.
  • Ensures proper documentation of services and submittal of all billing information on a timely basis.
  • Maintains an average productivity rate or billable time of 85% per month. Paid Time Off, FMLA, and training will not count toward productivity or billable time.
  • Maintain calendar in Outlook to support your schedule of appointments, meetings, trainings, and time off.
  • Communicates with Director when making plans to work outside of normal business hours. Any overtime must be approved by the Director.
  • Works remotely, spending most of the work time in the community with participants, allowing the most flexibility in securing billable hours. Meetings with participants may be held at LOGAN Center or LOGAN Industries locations when necessary. Open spaces at both LOGAN buildings can be used for completing tasks requiring the use of a printer.
  • Attends and participates in department and agency meetings required.

 

 

General Responsibilities

  • Promotes health and safety of all staff and persons served through adherence to all agency policies and procedures.
  • Seeks professional growth by keeping current on new philosophy, research, technology, strategies, etc
  • Keeps informed of industry trends and best practices including participation in the Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (INARF) professional interest sessions.
  • Is knowledgeable of and adheres to CARF accreditation standards.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Education or related area is preferred.

 

Experience

  • Two years of experience in related field preferred.
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Experience in job analysis and work site training, as well as an understanding of supported employment

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills necessary to build relationships with community organizations, clients, funding source staff and LOGAN staff.
  • Ability to accurately interpret and consistently communicate policies and procedures.
  • Must have and/or develop working knowledge and proficiency in Person Centered Planning and Positive Behavior Supports.
  • Oral/written communication skills to clearly and effectively express ideas.
  • Ability to plan and organize work activities/processes, use discretion and sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative to ensure goals are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Must provide own transportation, have valid driver’s license and driving record must meet insurability requirements.
  • Must maintain and provide documentation of auto insurance at limits set by agency.
  • Must provide record of vehicle registration.
  • Must have ability to lift/move individuals or materials weighing up to 50 lbs. periodically.
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification and must stay current on all other training as defined by state, accreditation body or organization guidelines.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
