Job Summary

Under the direction of the Dean of the Lakeshore Campus, this position provides community relations support and is responsible for special projects and assignments. This position acts as a representative of the Dean’s office at community meetings and events. It also provides counsel and recommendations on community task forces and committee representation. They evaluate requests for the hosting of external events at Lakeshore and work to promote and connect the campus to external resources and opportunities. This position supports faculty, students, and administrators and serves as a bridge between all of them and the community. It supports the Dean in developing and maintaining data-driven initiatives in the community for campus development and sustainability of our programs. The position will also take an active part in developing and supporting grant-driven initiatives that demand community participation.

Required Qualification(s)

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher.
2. Minimum of one (1) year experience directly supervising employees.
3. Five (5) years of experience in higher education, secondary education, human service agency, or community organization.
4. Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
5. Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.

1. Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Summary of Essential Functions

Project and Process Management 60 %
1. Give tours of the campus to prospective students and stakeholders.
2. Work with the Dean and the Lakeshore team to develop critical partnerships in the community.
3. Plan and execute internal and external meetings/events.
4. Help identify emerging needs and opportunities for programs and services at Lakeshore Campus
5. Develop innovative, evidence-informed responses to meet the needs of our campus, students, and community.
6. Help establishes and convene multi-disciplinary work groups and committees to inform analysis and address the goals and activities defined in the college and campus plans.
7. Accountable for project planning, outcome monitoring through collection of data and records, and reporting as directed.
8. Assists and collaborates in developing marketing/communications materials and strategies to advance the goals of the college in the Lakeshore area.
9. Able to process, protect and exercise discretion in professionally handling confidential information and materials.
10. Acts as a representative of the Dean at community meetings and discussions
11. Keeps the Dean praised of community developments and trends

Student/Customer Service 25 %
1. Supports the Dean’s office in exceptional service to students, campus and the general communities.
2. Act as a liaison to support cross/multi-division initiatives at Lakeshore Campus.
3. Collaborate in developing program learning outcomes, assessments, and evaluations.
4. Coordinate special community and campus events that focus on supporting student success like the annual Salute to Gospel Program, Fiestas Patrias, the Downtown Holiday Festival, Cinco de Mayo Celebration, and Juneteenth.
5. Responsible for understanding the college and campus processes and supporting student/faculty/community with navigation and understanding.
6. Assist with special events (Open House, Career Expo, Awards Ceremony).

Personnel Management 10%
1. Manage front desk staff
2. Approve time cards and requests
3. Determine and evaluate staffing levels, hours, and expectations
4. Work in conjunction with the Lakeshore Team to develop comprehensive staffing plans and gather support data

Other 5 %
1. Supports Grant initiatives as needed.
2. Provide administrative support to include telephone coverage, copier projects, mail handling, supplies control, and necessary internal and external communication.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
