Senior Research Assistant

Job Description:
The Senior Research Assistant will independently perform microscopy experiments on high-content screening system, design and carry out molecular biology experiments on cell cultures and tissues and conduct basic maintenance of mouse colonies. In addition, the Senior Research Assistant will collect, record, and interpret experimental data and contribute to the writing of grants and manuscripts in collaboration with the Principal Investigator. This position will supervise and assist students, post-doc and other research assistants in the laboratory.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 08/31/2024 which may be extended based upon available funding.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years lab experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with computer software (word/ excel and Filemaker pro) required
Expertise in running the Opera Phoenix High-Content Screening System strongly preferred
Job Competencies
Strong organizational skills, technical/ scientific and time management skills
Ability to design, conduct and evaluate experiments independently
Knowledge of molecular biology techniques: RNA, DNA isolation; QPCR
Knowledge of a diverse set of microscopy techniques, including epifluorescence microscopy
Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
Education and criminal background check required.
