Postdoctoral Research Associate

Job Description

The Desai lab in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate (postdoc). The research in Desai lab seeks to understand the mechanisms through which immune cells sense and adapt to rapid changes in the tissue environment during host defense, inflammation, and tissue homeostasis. In this context, we take a special interest in the role of ion channels, GPCRs and calcium signaling in the sensory physiology of different types of tissue-resident macrophages.

Current projects in the Desai lab focus on defining the ion channel and GPCR-mediated signals controlling: (1) cell-intrinsic defense processes; (2) immunometabolism; (3) functional specialization of organ-resident myeloid cells; (4) neuroimmune crosstalk. Further information about the lab research interests can be found here or by communicating directly with Dr. Bimal Desai.
