Responsibilities

This position is in the Division of Biostatistics within the Department of Public Health Sciences and supports basic and clinical research and investigators throughout the School of Medicine. Incumbent will act as a biostatistician on a variety of projects in the School of Medicine. Incumbent will participate in projects within the Division of Biostatistics to include using state of the art mathematical approaches to data analysis, developing related software, participating in discussions with researchers, participating in publication of papers in scientific journals, attending conferences and making presentations, conducting seminars, keeping current with related literature, helping to guide and educate students, postdoctoral scholars, residents, and fellows, and helping to write proposals for future funding. This position reports directly to Dr. Sandra Taylor. This position is a hybrid work opportunity.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position. 

• Bachelor’s degree in biostatistics, statistics, data science, mathematics, biological science, computational/programming, or related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
• Experience Programming in R or SAS.
• Demonstrated experience conducting and interpreting statistical analyses including ANOVA, linear regression, logistic regression, survival analyses, and longitudinal analyses.
• Experience working in research environment.
• Working knowledge of modern biology and medical research.
• Ability to work collaboratively with investigators with diverse backgrounds in a research environment either in a university or industry setting.
• Skills and experience in summarizing and communicating results of statistical analyses to statisticians and non-statisticians both verbally and in writing.
• Skills and experience in documenting and organizing statistical analyses, including programming code, data and analysis output in accordance with reproducible research standards.
• Skills and ability to prepare data sets for statistical analysis including identifying errors and inconsistencies, merging multiple data sets, subsetting and reorganizing data sets.
• Good writing skills with experience contributing to scholarly publication, technical reports and/or grant preparation.
• Good organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, biometry, data science or closely-related field and/or equivalent experience and/or training preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience conducting applied statistical analyses for biomedical research projects.
