The Missouri Association of Counties (MAC), founded in 1972, is a nonprofit corporation established to provide assistance to its member counties in matters pertaining to local, state, and federal government activities. The association membership numbers more than 1,400 county elected officials. MAC is a lobbying alliance that represents these local government elected officials while providing varying network and educational opportunities and resources for the association membership.

MAC is looking to employ someone who is forward thinking with attention to detail and the ability to connect in person and online. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multitask and evolve in an ever-changing environment. To ensure success, candidates should be innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages across multiple platforms.

Requirements: Some travel for various conferences/events

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a communication strategy that includes media outreach and social media content creation.
  • Research and write press releases, and content for the organization’s website, podcast, magazine and newsletters.
  • Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of the organization’s policies, principles, and strategies, and keep up to date with relevant developments and legislation.
  • Work with key internal role-players to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various brand initiatives.
  • Support and evaluate results of varying campaigns/events with the team.
  • Work with team members to maintain database of membership and varying vendors.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure successful events of varying capacities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and key external role-players.

Candidate requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field (essential); or two years of relevant association experience (essential).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in Microsoft, Adobe, audio and video editing software.
  • Content writing experience for all media platforms.
  • Proven social media and networking expertise.
  • Strategic and creative mindset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
