POSITION SUMMARY:

The Education and Employment Manager leads the Education, Employment and Career programs within the My First Place (MFP) model in multiple Northern California Regions. The Education, Employment and Career Program, is crucial to the My First Place model as it teaches youth critical skills and gives them opportunities to move out of poverty into a life of self-sufficiency. The Education and Employment Manager is an energetic, collaborative and results-oriented leader who is responsible for overseeing and driving Education and Employment outcomes and productivity goals, ensuring effective staff supervision and program implementation according to First Place goals. The Manger will monitor outcomes, train and support in best practice implementation, outreach, vet and maintain external opportunities and partnerships promoting youth outcomes, organize community building events in alignment with the model, and supervise direct-service staff. This position requires an educated professional whose passion for First Place’s vision is matched with energetic leadership, habitual modeling of First Place’s core competencies, and a proven track record of effectively managing direct-service teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Train, develop, inspire and supervise a team of direct-service staff
  • Oversee and drive Education, Employment and Career outcomes and productivity goals
  • Provide regular supervision and ensure that staff are implementing best practices
  • Review data to monitor fidelity, track outcomes, and guide support areas
  • Oversee and monitor budget spending and line items
  • Coordinate Education, Employment and Career activities such as College Tours,
  • Career Days, Back to School Events, job shadowing and internships

External Partnership Development and Management

  • Develop strong relationships and communication with program partners to support youth success specifically employers and educational partners
  • Professionally and effectively represent the agency as needed in meetings with collaborative partners, and at other meetings as deemed important to the advancement of First Place’s mission and goals

Cross-Program and Department Collaboration

  • Provide coaching and technical support to staff on topics such as education and employment best practices, career trends and opportunities, and career pipelines
  • Work closely with the VP of Education and Employment and the Management Team to provide

leadership to the organization’s programs

  • Collaborative with colleagues across the organization and within respective department
  • Other duties as needed and assigned

Qualification and Requirements:

  • NON-PROFIT LEADERSHIP –Master’s in related field strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree Social Work or related field required. Sophisticated management skills through a minimum of 1-3 years of program management experience and three years’ of experience working with at-risk youth, preferably current or former foster youth.
  • PEOPLE, PROJECT AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT SKILLS - Exemplary people management skills, and the ability to link the development of people with achievement of organizational outcomes. Effective team leadership skills. Cross-functional collaborative capacity. Ability to either take direction or work independently as the situation requires. Strong supervisory skills and proven success supporting staff development and empowerment.
