The Department of Chemistry at Smith College invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin July 1, 2024. We welcome candidates who have research interests at the intersection of biochemistry and physical chemistry, but we will consider any candidate with exceptional qualifications in any chemistry subfield.  The successful candidate will contribute to our shared teaching in General Chemistry and will teach upper level courses aligning with their area of expertise, which may include biochemistry core courses within our Biochemistry Program.  Our Biochemistry program is administered jointly with the Department of Biological Sciences. A Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry is expected by the time of appointment; additional relevant experience may include postdoctoral research or college-level teaching. The Department of Chemistry (https://www.smith.edu/academics/chemistry ) and the Program in Biochemistry (https://www.smith.edu/academics/biochemistry ) have state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation, and our faculty are dedicated to active research programs with undergraduate students. The successful candidate is expected to establish an active research program with robust undergraduate student participation.
